First Gig

By rights, my first gig really should have been Mott the Hoople at the Southend Kursaal in the early Seventies, but my family resisted my repeated pleas, possibly due to the fact that I was eight, which even to this day I somewhat resent. My actual first gig was Glen Campbell at the Royal Albert Hall in 1976, which I was taken to by my cousin Joan and her friend, Sharon. First gig under my own steam was three years later – the Only Ones, supported by Simple Minds and Martha and the Muffins, at the Lyceum.
