Like Stuart Maconie I too have a 30 year + love affair with Yes but also like bands actually liked by the critics such as John Martyn,Caravan, American Music Club, Yo La Tengo, My Morning Jacket, Explosions in The Sky. Even like Amy Winehouse. Fraid r n b and rap, hip hop etc leave me cold but then I am not their target audience really am i? For years a Mojo subscriber but when I found out i was categorised as 'older, affluent customer' (what me - affluent?) switched to the mighty 'Word' which is a far better read.

Have twice met John Martyn walking around town just before his gigs (Warwick and Worcester).
Instead of the witty bon mot I often imagined myself saying to any 'celebs' I met I crumpled under the pressure and said 'hello'.
