Much as I'd like the answer to be Ride at Planet X in Liverpool, it was Erasure at Birmingham NEC on The Innocents tour. Ride was my second gig.

I get annoyed by people who enjoy forcing their personal philosophies on others; particular hatred is reserved for those who use any variation of the phrase, "you've got to laugh, haven't you!?".
