About Me

I'm a music nerd with an insatiable thirst for new sounds. I tend more towards the stuff gathered loosely under the incredibly broad heading of 'alternative' music, but I heartily embrace country, R&B (back when it meant rhythm & blues, not Usher-style faux-sincerity), dubstep, turntablism, art-hop, minimalist techno, ambient electronica, and beardy men with acoustic guitars. I'm a relatively new Dylan obsessive, only on the beginning of my journey down a long path.

In the 1980s

First Gig

My first gig, exlcuding for reasons of credibility the Play School concerts of my youth, was Tool at the Wollongong Entertainment Centre. It was part of their Lateralus tour, and it was a sensory explosion for someone whose connection to live music was tenuous to say the least. I may not be such a big Tool fan nowadays, but it's still an impressive spectacle to my mind's eye.

Strange Fact

I'm one of the rare 20-somethings who has an acoustic guitar, a banjo, a harmonica and a laptop full of sound-editing software. Not so weird, but not exactly dime-a-dozen either....
