40. Lecturing in mid-table university in the north of England. Impending divorce but consoled by a truly fabulous daughter. Look too much like how I'd imagine Ming the Merciless would end up if he lived too near a pie factory (even though I don't even eat that many pies).

Aside from tiny pub gigs, Jean Michel Jarre's first night at Docklands in 1998. Luckily it managed to persist with rain just after we got out of the the dock, even though the wind was mental.

I share a birthday with Marcel Marceau, Wilfrid Bramble, Karl Malden, Jocky Wilson, Pete Wylie, Roger Whittaker, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Chico Marx, inter alia.

Goethe died and the Football League was founded in 1888 on my birthday too.
