In the 1950s

First Gig

Family; Brighton Dome, 1969 (?). Unbelievably loud for a young lad, and everyone was very hairy. It set me on the course to long hair, and many more gigs at the Dome, then branching out to more exotic venues such as Brighton Top Rank, Worthing Pier Pavilion, The Hungry Years, and Phun City Festival in Worthing - that was a real eye-opener! I haven't looked back since, and still think you can't beat live music in a small venue. I saw Pink Floyd, Bowie, The Who, etc. in 2000 seater venues; the few arena gigs I've seen have been very disappointing in comparison.
