Former record shop guy (Virgin, HMV, Amazon.com/UK, US & Ireland) now residing in Seattle where it doesn't half get tedious listening to people extolling the virtues of The Nirvana. Personally I don't think they would merit a footnote in the history books if young Kurt hadn't offed himself. I prefer the Patrick Campbell-Lyons, Alex Spyropoulos, "Rainbow Chaser" combo.

I was once given a steel toe-cap from the cowboy boot of Bruce by the Chairman of Sony Music in Ireland. The Boss lost it descending from a helicopter to perform in Dublin.

I find myself shedding a tear quite often at gigs nowadays but I was a hard man for decades. The first time it happened was at Madison Square Garden at a Springsteen Tunnel of Love Tour show where he dedicated an acoustic version of Born To Run to all those fans who'd been with him since the beginning. To the consternation of the party who was my host, a senior sales exec. who hoped I was having a good time, I started blubbing uncontrollably.
