Your Ukelele Emporium Needs YOU!!!!!

ganglesprocket's picture

As there are several dedicate Ukele fans out there, I thought I'd draw attention to this. The Duke Of Uke, London's dedicated ukelele store is in danger of going under. Full information and how you can help them can be found here.

In honour of this fine instrument here is a Ukelele tune which played while Mrs G signed the marriage register...

I would have shopped there

but KatyG's fine shop in Marlow, Bucks is closer to me and Minglers loyalty comes first.

So you cockney bastards, get down the apples and pairs (stairs), along the frog n toad (road) and have a bowler hat (chat) with the Duke!

Absoukely

As I work close by, I've visisted a few times and (more importantly for the owners) have lashed out on a couple of quality instruments and cases. It would be a real shame if they went under. I'm not sure I'll be allowed to add to my collection of Uke's but I do hope they get through this.

The problem is that beginers can get a reasonable and very playable instrument for such a low price that uke profits must be minimal. Coupled with the extremely high rates for premises in that "recently trendy" part of town, it doesn't look good.

Soup Studios

I can personally recommend Soup Studios, situated beneath the Duke of Uke. A fine establishment, run by the very accomplished Simon Trought. Wherever the studio is going to be in the future, it'll be a great place to record.
