Yorkshire Massive Meet ?

Janice's picture

Calling the Yorkshire Word Massive !

Several months back I asked if there was a Yorkshire Massive and a number of people replied saying they might be interested in meeting up but we didn't take it any further.

As it's a New Year and all that I wondered if we should try again. Is anyone interested ? York and Leeds seemed favourable spots for a meet-up last time - is that still the case ?

After all, if those Southerners can manage it.....

Gradely

Although there's more than them there southerners have managed it. Us in't North West Massive are regulars at it and the Glasgow Massif too. You might stand a better chance of enticing fellow Tyke D.Hepworth esq. up to visit. We are also mingling amongst ourselves now by visiting other "chapters" of the Massive. Spreading the love around.

reet gradely???

i have to say, although yorkshire born & bred, the only time i have heard the word 'right' pronounced 'reet' has been when someone not of these parts is attempting to do the accent. now if you'd said 'reyt'...
as for 'gradely', the mind fookin' boggles

Humble apologies halibut

very sorry don't know what came over me. I have found out that gradely is from that place over the Pennines. Sorry. I too am Yorkshire born and bred I do recall as a child some graffiti on a wall in the 60s that said The Neet Raikes
Sorry again won't happen again

Leeds for me too

I can recommend a couple of places to meet. I suppose Friday or Saturday evenings would be most popular, though I can do weeknights too.

Any more for any more ?
Leeds looks popular at present, any other preferences re a meet day ?

As an East Yorkie born and bred I've never heard of gradely either but then Wessies always were a funny bunch !

I love the meet-ups

so can only encourage you strongly to give it a go!

Now I'm itching to see if I can coincide a visit to my best mates (who live in Hebden Bridge and Harrogate) with the Yorkshire meet...

Okay....

So, shall we take the next step and see if we can find a date ?

I've set up a Doodle poll with some suggested dates in Feb as I thought that might make it easier to organise (I had to put in a time to indicate Afternoon or Evening). If you're still interested in a meet, please go to http://www.doodle.com/thrxk6rgah76rmh2 to log the dates you could make and we'll see what's most popular/if anyone still wants to come !

Leeds looks like the most popular venue so if we get a date we'll need some locals to suggest a venue.

If we keep adding comments to this post hopefully it will keep it where more Yorkshire folk might see it.

PS - Hannah - you're most welcome if you can make the journey !
