Worst-ever album dedications?
What are the worst dedications you've ever read on an album sleeve?
I know that the ones which go on about thanking God, etc, are the most nauseous - but for my money, the most awful has to be 'Tunnel Of Love' (while we're on a Springsteen tip).
There's Bruce, filling an album with songs like 'Brilliant Disguise' ("And then it all falls apart when out go the lights"), 'Two Faces' ("He said our life was just a lie") and 'One Step Up' ("Another fight and I slam the door on another battle in our dirty little war") - basically, the most awfully sad songs about the utterly miserable state of his marriage to Julianne Phillips - and then he goes and dedicates the album to her! Gawd knows how she must have felt about that. Although my guess is: 'not very good'.

Joss Stone
It's hard to beat the Girl From The West Country when it comes down to La La Land gushing praise and devotion, and there's so much of it! So much so in fact the record company did a webpage for her dedications rather than try and shoe-horn in the weighty 64 page booklet it would need...
You can read it in full here...

As a wee taster, this is to her hairdresser...
"also everyone else involved in that shoot, i owe alot to because it was so last minute, so extra special thanks to brian magallones, he does my hair and is one my best friends. he came through for me at the last minute also. i was all flustered -- u know how girls can get. well i'm a lil emotional so times it by 1000, brian just looked at me and was like "are you crazy? of course i'll be there for you" although he had another job, he managed to rearrange, so sweet.
brian, i love you and always will. that's not the only thing u've done for me. you're a solid friend and i know u'll never disappear no matter what. we have waaaayy too much fun!"
Magallones
Poor Joss could have used a proof reader - our Brian is thanked again further down the page.

I just read this one -
"all my love to the music, god, my family, my friends. my dogs dusty springfield and missy elliott, i love you two so much. you're my company and always up for cuddles, just two bundles of love. god, i love them soooooooo much"
- and thought, 'Doesn't she realise Dusty Springfield is dead, and therefore not available for cuddles?'.
And then I realised that there was a full-stop, and that her dogs are *called* Dusty Springfield and Missy Elliott.
It just gets better.
blimey
what's the betting she's not actually in touch with Brian in a year's time?

just skim-read that page (which is probably the only way to read it). good grief. a toss-up between so many for the best individual dedication, but personally I love: "a big thanks to my family for just loving me no matter what, whether i'm singing or washing up", and may start to use it myself.
I can honestly say
I have never read any sleeve dedications...
Not even Girls Aloud's
Last C.D.
"To uproar 13, thanks for that magical night in Morecambe"?
The Bruce album dedication
The Bruce album dedication does not look like the most heartfelt declaration of love. It says "Thanks Julie".
Indeed. As if writing the
Indeed. As if writing the songs and then dedicating the album to her wasn't depressing enough, it's not exactly the most, erm, loving of dedications.
We fought the punk wars for this?
I seem to recall an ongoing sleeve dedication love-in between (probably) Splodgenessabounds and (possibly) The Adicts. Something about the seven golden gussets. You just can't blank the memories you want to, can you?
