3 BAR FIRE are a discerning music portal rammed with daily news, reviews, features and media from around the web and outside the mainstream. "We're like THE WORD," they point out, "but younger and only on the internet."
3 BAR DJs The Last Skeptik, Ruffhousing and Chief have challenged the mighty WORD to an "epic soundclash" this Friday night in London's swinging Islington district. THE WORD are fielding Rob Fitzpatrick, "Seventies Mike" Johnson, Kate Mossman and Mark Ellen - and an arsenal of roof-rattling records. "Will there be blood?" wonder 3 BAR FIRE. "Probably not, but there'll definitely
be excellent music. There's only one way to decide: FIGHT!"

oh yes
the hour is nearly at hand!
Tell the young upstarts
to put this in their crackpipe and smoke it.
And that it sounds better on a dansette than it does on the internet.
Probably worth instructing the roof of the Old Queens Head to batten down the hatches, too. If it thought Sunday night constituted a storm ...
Outstanding
These babies are less than a fiver each from Amazon. My order's in.
Have fun Vulpes
No idea if it's "cool" or "uncool" - lost track of (and interest in) that agenda many, many years ago - but you'll find some wonderful music that you'll love to bits.
thats the spirit!
Mesmeric
How many bands have there been of this quality in the last 30 years? Too few to warrant more than ten fingers, I'd wager.
Twin Bass Attack!
allas wins, anyway isn't Northern Soul just 3rd division Motown and Stax?
About 75%
Like most genres of music I suppose I'd say about 75% is formulaic, run-of-the-mill and unremarkable. Contrary to one of the most irritating music journalist cliches, not every Northern Soul record is a "classic". The other 25% is however, to these ears anyway, the most thrilling pop music you could ever hope to hear and well worth sifting through the dross for.
I seem to have stumbled into
I seem to have stumbled into an episode of Nathan Barley
Out of interest...
...who won last night's soundclash?
Were there any causalities?
Was Mark Ellen mortally wounded by an abrasive shard of banging Shoreditch techno and then carried from the venue with the back of his hand pressed theatrically against his fevered brow?
Was Sloop John B played at any point during the evening?
The Soundclash
Is tonight. Mark Ellen is currently doing pull-ups.
a Soundclash...
sans Clash would be unforgivable IMO, might I suggest (Working for the) Clampdown from a simpler time when we didn't think of men in trucks unexpectedly taking your car away?
So?
