#1: BRING BACK TOM HIBBERT

e.g.

"...so, Roger - are you really the gloomiest man in Rock?"

etc

Sorely missed - bring him back, sharpish - please.

Seconded

Indeed grab the Who The Hell concept as it was always a joy.

It wouldn't work now...

seeing as most musicians are hermetically-sealed in a PR blandbubble.

Patrick Crowther | 26 March 2008 - 6:36am

By the way...

can you please tell me that Jeff Leopard is your real name?! It's fantastic.

Patrick Crowther | 26 March 2008 - 6:38am

Tom Hibbert...

...I read a wonderful piece of his about bottom-of-the-bill prog bands he ended up seeing/enduring in the 60s/70s for Mojo Magazine- was very amusing. I think I also once had a book about record collecting that he wrote.

This is my favourite Hibbert moment

Being a big old Smiths fan and an avid reader of Smash Hits I loved this interview. Hibbert comes out on top which is the only time I recall Morrissey not bossing an interview totally.

Best bit below:

What do you eat?

I have a daily intake of yoghurt and bread.

Do you think that this might be responsible for your present state of ill-health? A good McDonald's quarter-pounder would put you back on your feet in no time.

I sincerely doubt it.

If you died tomorrow, went up to heaven and met Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame, what would you say to him?

Words would just be useless. I think I'd resort to the old physical knee in the groin - "this is on behalf of all those poor animals who died simply because of you."

That was a trick question. You should have said Colonel Sanders wouldn't be in heaven.

Oh.

OK. That's the end.

Of what?

Of the interview.

Thank heavens for that. You didn't ask me about Band Aid.
What about Band Aid?

Band Aid is the undiscussable, I'm afraid.

You brought it up!

Yes, and I finished the sentence. Full stop.

A bonus...

...for whoever was responsible for the caption on the Rod Stewart/Ronnie Wood picture on page 59 of the current issue.
