The Word's picture

The third of this year's Latitude podcasts, recorded at the Word Lounge at the festival, is amongst you. First up, Absolute Radio's Geoff Lloyd talks David Hepworth and Mark Ellen through the pain of losing his record collection and reveals a genuine piece of backsgage gossip involving lots of mud, some borrowed wood, and Seasick Steve. In parts two and three, recorded yesterday, we hear from I Am Kloot's John Bramwell and Australian/American vintage bluesman C.W. Stoneking.

The podcast is available to podcast app users now and will be available via this website, through iTunes and other channels tomorrow.

You can follow this link to get the podcast every week. For more details on our podcast app, click here.

And if you enjoyed Stoneking's performance, seats are still available to see him perform at our Word On The Water event next weekend. Buy tickets here.

Geoff Lloyd was an excellent entertaining and erudite guest. But I will never understand the Word's enthusiasm for C.W. Stoneking and his pseudo blues ramblings. Nick Lowe could recite at least 2 classic r'n'r anecdotes in the time it takes Stoneking to introduce one of his own songs. I'd hate to be trapped on a paddleship with this bore

I agree..

.. I find C.W.Stoneking difficult to listen to, whether he's talking or singing.

His singing was OK

if you like that kind of thing, but his guitar was painfully out of tune.

Agree aboutGeoff Lloyd

Never heard of him but he was an excellent interviewee.
Disagree about CW, his stuff is so cool and captivating. Love it.
And as for I Am Kloot? Legend, should be much more widely appreciated.

Geoff Lloyd was good value

I enjoyed him enormously.

However, if I may introduce a tiny detail of pedantry, when he spoke of losing his records and mentioned the copy of "Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane with the wavy record cover" I suspect he was really talking about the Sgt Pepper inner sleeve.

Really enjoyed

Geoff Lloyds bit, I love the story about Pete Mitchell signing the Paul McCartney LPs..that is pure Podcast gold! Slightly freaky to hear one of our local Councillors namechecked on a Word Podcast though!

Johnny Bramwell is a bit of a character. One of my few claims to fame is that I played in a band with him for 4 minutes.
I once did a gig at Night & Day in Manchester back when a pre-IAK Johnny Bramwell was doing a stint booking the bands, and during our set I heard some clattering and turned around and found he had decided to get up and join us on drums!

Those in Granadaland may also recall he was also the unlikely presenter of a Saturday morning Kids TV show called the 8:15 From Manchester way back when...Inspiral Carpets did the theme tune. I suspect this is what Kate and Mark were trying to get him to talk about?? I don't remember the late night music show he was talking about.
