Word Podcast 180 - Latitude Day Two, with Robin Ince & They Might Be Giants

In the second podcast from Latitude, Robin Ince joins us in the Word lounge to talk about Mills & Boon, buying a record only to find the musician in question operating the till, being bullied by Ricky Gervais, his first Glastonbury, why Robert Smith should never be a crowd marshall and working with Brian Cox. Plus the chaps from They Might Be Giants talk to David Hepworth and answer audience questions about set lists, stuffing envelopes and the difficulties involved in doing a children's record about history.
The podcast is available to podcast app users now and will be available via this website, through iTunes and other channels tomorrow.

goodness me
I didn't realise Latitude was fancy dress. This year's theme: bad taste
Echobelly conversation (slight return)
The guitarist was called Debbie Smith and she was in Curve before Echobelly. I see her regularly on the 68 bus and I think she's cool as fuck.

She was never in My Bloody Valentine though
That was the mighty Debbie Googe. Debbie was also in Snowpony, and also fits Robin's..ahem...description. So which one was it he bought a Snowpony CD off in the Record & Tape Exchange. We should be told!
Been catching up with the podcasts
...since my return from Latitude.
Sadly when I did a mass download from iTunes, this one (the Robin Ince 'cast) was replaced by the Phillips/Kloot/Stoneking one, which I got two copies of!
No such problem with the app, which delivered all the 'casts, correctly and in order.
Fraser, you might want to take a look at the iTunes situation though?
Already fiixed
Try connecting to iTunes again and re-downloading podcast 180.
Now that's service!
Thanks Fraser.
Right, I've listened to it now...
...did Robin smuggle his own amphetamines on site or did he find a good dealer?
Gotta love Robin Ince
I've seen him supporting Ricky Gervais a couple of times (a tough gig if ever there was one) and always enjoyed his radio work, too.
His razor sharp comebacks and improv skills are brilliant.
Imagine being trapped in a lift with him, though!
