Word Magazine aka Band Member's Reunited
Weirdness of weirdness. The inside back cover of the latest issue has an advert for an album by a bloke called Ian King. That same Ian King was my best friend in High School. I haven't seen him in 15 years, and suddenly there he is in the Word, on the cover-mount CD no less, (and at the time of writing he's the banner advert at the top of the blog). We were in a punk band together in the 70s, (he was the punk, I was the only guy they knew who played drums). We did Calamity Jane together. Sometime during our dole years we tried to get a country and western band together to play around the working men's of the North, (we failed, we couldn't take it seriously - we would be able to now, though).
a) it's lovely to be back in touch with my friend again - we've lined up a pint for next week
b) check out his song Death and the Lady on the cover Cd, and if you like it, give the album a try. I'm relieved to tell you that it's well worth the effort
c) he's been making music for 30 years now, and he's finally making a name for himself. That's quite something, isn't it!

Good news
That's a great story. I'm sure your forthcoming meet up will bring back random memeories which would never have seen the light again otherwise. I met up with my old band last weekend we do it every year or so - it's always great fun. We planned another gig last weekend. The set list was being debated at around midnight. The gig will probably not happen but it was fun ticking it over for a few hours.
I often wonder whether I know other members of the massive but not by their monikers on here. I don't think anyone would know me by my name on here as it's pretty much the only place it has been used.
Have a good night.
Lunaman - do the gig!
Your public is crying out for you!
It's certainly possible that old friends might be hanging out on here under the guise of a pseudonym. It's also possible that the loose confederacy we build up on here would fetch us out into the real world should the occasion arise. It's not unfeasible that if you were to line up your gig and announce it on here, (I don't know whether Fraser would allow that or not, but anyway), that myself or others might come along to support you just because we follow the same blog and we all have a great affection for it.
Cheers smithylad
If only the public were. I wouldn't be off to get into my suit in a minute or two! Funny thing was we met at The Lexington the venue for the Word gig next month. Went upstairs to check out the gig and that's when it all started...........
If it ever happens I'll probably drop it on here somehow.
