Women and James Blunt

I know I will come across as a bit of lunatic, but I just dont understand what it is with women and James Blunt - what do they see (or hear) in him? My girlfriend plays him all the time and it drives me insane. Am I the only man that feels this way?

I have a theory about this...

I am convinced that there are subtle differences in the way male and female brains process sound, as yet undiscovered by science. When the vast majority of men listen to a Blunt song, they hear a mewling, saccharine, anodyne whimper of a voice conveying utterly banal sentiment. Whereas many women hear something quite different. Trouble is I'm not quite sure what...

Women, and...

That was

superb! And Brydon hasn't half got a voice on him! I'd heard it before when he was on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue but the man can carry a tune.

Shaping up well

that new series of Gavin & Stacey isn't it. Could even top the first. "Pete Townsend ... just one question ... where's the book."

Men and Gilbert O'Sullivan

I know I will come across as a bit of a lunatic, but I just don't understand what it is about men and Gilbert O'Sullivan- what do they see (or hear) in him? My boyfriend plays him all the time and it drives me insane. Am I the only woman to feel this way?

You just need a girlfriend with better taste in music IMHO

Please don't tar all us gals with the same brush. I can't stand Blunt's music.

What Could It Be?

On top of the fact that his music is, to put it mildly, not very good, he has an atrocious haircut and needs to shave. What could it be about millionaire James Blunt that attracts the ladies?

If you were cynically trying to manufacture an act

to appeal to women with fairly middle-of-the-road musical taste you'd be hard pushed to come up with a better formula than "James Blunt". Firstly he is good-looking. Many women might not think so, but many many more would, and it wasn't pure coincidence that he was topless for the video of his breakthrough hit. His songs are carefully honed to slot into mainstream radio. They are highly emotional, and he presents himself as a sensitive and vulnerable soul, but one capable of - and crying out to give - passionate devotion.
It may be contrived (then again it may not) but it certainly presses the right buttons for a substantial proportion of "the ladies". Which is also why he is annoys so many men.

Don't forget the Action Man angle

He may be soppy but he's a trained killer.

Women

They have to go and buy music just because they fancy the singer or for some other superficial reason. They are clearly responsible for all the crap that gets in the charts. Don't they know pop music is important - in fact it's actually a matter of life and death?

James Blunt is just a very

James Blunt is just a very shrewd business man. Him and his management have been very canny in there adroit perception of what women want in a singer/songwriter.
