Wilmer X

Comments:
You know that sort of concert you wish for every time you go to a concert? The kind of show where every song sounds like the best the band has ever made? That´s the kind of show Wilmer X pulled off last night and it was apparent rather early on. Since they don´t have a new album to promote - they really don´t exist anymore, this is just a five stop "why not?" thing - they turned themselves into a jukebox. Even if they only had two proper hits they made quite a few classics in their time. They are having a great time on stage and the only thing I can complain about is they didn´t play long enough, even if the show lasted for 90 minutes. They mainly focused on their pop and rock side this evening. Not so much soul, country, disco, jazz or slow blues. It´s uptempo almost the whole way.
The Audience:
Mostly people in their fifties, talking about "proper music", ie rock´n´roll. Because synths are crap and new is crap and development is crap and oh for the golden years (in this case probably 82-86). I can see why the band called it a day.
Food & Drink:
Lots of drink, if the people standing around me are anything to go by. LOTS of drink. At reasonable prices, it seems. Probably some food available too, but eating would prevent people from drinking. Which is bad.
It Made Me Think...:
It reminded me of why I love music in general and why Wilmer X are one of my favourite bands. It reminded me how great it feels to scream along to music I love with tears running down my face.
