Why Radio still matters.
Posted by ip29 on 12 September 2011 - 7:25pm.
Listening to the Radio this last week and a bit I realised that I still get a lot of new (to me anyway!) Music from the Wireless.
Julian Cope appeared on Radcliffe/Maconie a week last Friday and chose a CCR track and fantasic tune from Zounds which have been a constant on the iPod. Add to that Church of Anthrax, Jonathan Halper, Abner Jay and Voice of the Seven Thunders from the last few Freak/Freakier Zones and I'm pretty set for the week!
Anybody still get a lot of their new Music from the Radio?

Not exactly but
this morning's Woman's Hour with Jane Garvey struggling to cope with the opinions of Joan Collins was a joy to hear
I do a bit..........
Plenty on 6 Music to enjoy, Radcliffe and Maconie probably the best.
6 Music's documentary repeats are ace as are some Live Music Hours, but that's not really new music.
I suppose I get my newer music from blogs I'm involved in or around now, getting older I tend to stick with blogs of similar taste.
Yes (and no)
6 Music continues to be a joy - although I have tended to pick up music thats new to me but older if that makes sense. I do tend to listen to 5 Live a lot though - not much music there obviously. I get a lot of new from Later with Jools on the TV. Radio is still the best media bar none.
Danny Baker on Radio London
I know Danny's show is often off the wall but last week he had an amazing hour with Nick Lowe who performed songs from the new album as well as re-visiting random old tracks. Catch up on i-player
