Who's the biggest tribute album whore?

NigelSmith's picture

My vote is for Elvis Costello. I think he's on tributes to Gram Parsons, The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, June Carter Cash, Van Morrison, Paul Simon - even George Gerswhin. I suspect he's been on others that you know.

Does any other artist love paring tribute this much?

Possibly

but Lod Lobos, Cowboy Junkies and Lucinda Williams may just have the edge on him. Not at home to do a check of the not inconsiderable examples I have. 3 of the 4 appear on some you mention, even. Is there a full house of all 4 artists out there?

It's That Man Again

On a similar theme, is it an unwritten rule that Bono has to make an appearance in every flippin' music documentary? Ray Davies, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, just to name 3 off the top of my head, have all been touched by his humble words of admiration......
