Who owns a band name anyway?

Jed Clampett's picture

At the upcoming Gosport Festival one of the headliners is T-Rex, performing with "a new frontman".

I can see that having the original frontman would be a challenge, but how is that even possible?

Even Queen without Freddy makes more sense than that.

New front man? Even the original sidemen would be a challenge

Apart from the drummer, Bill Legend, they're all dead.

Ah, maybe it is a band put together by him then

It seems a bit macabre to me. Is it basically a tribute band that has stolen the actual name of their idols? Would that be legal?

Or is it like the Ramones, who seem to be still touring with somebody who once met a cousin of somebody who used to play the drums in one of the old line-ups?

I, for one, am not too proud to make the gag

The first draft of Michael Crichton's "Jurassic Park" (Jurassic Marc) concerned the re-animation of the T Rex band. Then he heard about CGI and the project was scaled up to actual dinosaurs....
