Who is the American on the podcasts
Posted by Diz on 6 May 2009 - 3:41pm.
who keeps popping up?
As newcomer to these ipod thingies I have only recently joined the wonderful world of the Word podcasts - and very excellent they are to.
But periodically the debate pauses and an American (or at least I think it's American) voice comes on and says something like: "The Word, a podcast, a magazine, a way of life".
And if it is indeed American, why? As a UK magazine why not a British voice?
Just wondering in case one of the Word Towers occupants is reading.

Canadian, IIRC
neighbour of Mr H, or sumfink. Professional voiceover artist, methinks.
Kerry Shale
Is a Canadian actor who happens to be a valued reader of the magazine, lives up the road and lent his peerless voiceover skills to the podcast ages ago. The fact that he doesn't sound British makes his voice even more effective here.
It's Kerry Shale
Heard on a lot of BBC radio stuff if you listen carefully.
Does a lot of audiobooks and
Radio 4 'book of the week' as well
Stephen Fry
Is he the guy that Stephen Fry referred to during his interview with Simon Mayo last Friday? Fry said he loved an "American actor" who did many, many audio-books including Crime and Punishment; he couldn't remember his name...
So that's why it was vaguely familiar
I now owe grovelling apologies to him for confusing Canadian and American accents.
....and while we're on the subject....
.....it's probably been asked and answered before, but, who plays the little acoustic blues intro and outro on the podcast?
It's Mark Ellen himself, I believe
Playing a snippet of Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie.
