Where fan idolatry and insanity meet...
Posted by Patrick Crowther on 2 July 2009 - 8:54am.

I have discovered (through the wonder of the web) these candles which are available for purchase. They feature lovingly-crafted images of the members of Status Quo.
There is a thin line between loving a band and entering the world of the weirdo.
Any other examples of taking fan worship that little bit too far?

That's nothing
The mad Jacko fan from our office has jetted over to Neverland for the funeral.
He's worn dark glasses all week, too.
Are you serious?
Please tell me you're joking!
the fan in our office
was hoping to get her refund from O2 so she can use the money towards going to the funeral. It does make me wary of drinking any team she makes....
Can't go much further than this

If only...
Bill Hicks was still with us. Think of the material.
The earth just got lighter
.
The earth just got lighter
But not by much.
the muffled sound of knocking on a coffin lid
doesn't sound that funny to me.
While I don't believe for a second the claims about suicides
It kinda makes me hope Jacko's faking it
Darwin
Well, that's another 10 nominees for this year's Darwin Awards, then... maybe they can win it jointly?
Sometimes the band can do "weirdo" by themselves

For all you Danny Dyer fans...
... why not check out the Danny Dyer Merchandise line. yes folks, there is such a thing, but you'll have to be fast!

What a rent-a-knob !!
Dyer that is.
That cheeky Cockney self confidence...
...will get you everywhere it seems. His upcoming film is (to use the putdown du jour) a landfill Shaun of the Dead...
Does anyone know where I can get
Jan Francis memorabilia?
Right here

Jan Francis memorabilia
Depends what you mean by "get". You can certainly look at about all the Jan Francis memorabilia there is to see at the Jan Francis Online Archive - "the" definitive site on this most outstanding actress - www.jan-francis.com. Otherwise there's no avoiding eBay to start collecting yourself. To keep in touch with news and views of everything to do with Jan, may I invite you to join Just...Jan Francis, the Yahoo fansite I run at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/justjanfrancis/.
Status Quo again
I'm sure I remember local evening news doing a spot about a Status Quo fan who'd got tattoos done - Francis Rossi on the entire right front thigh, Rick Parfitt on the left. And he met them as well, and had his picture done with them and his trousers dropped and tattoos on display.
And there was a Liverpool fan who got a full size "Owen 10" tattooed on his back.
Rockin' All Over His Back...
That guy is a real life...
mentalist.
Isn't that the Lion King
top row second from right?
Anyway at least he stopped short of getting that awful headless bass tattooed along with the guitars.
If those are real signatures,
...which he has had tattooed over, I can imagine each band member saying, 'errrr.. which one is me?'
this may be a minor point
when someone has invested so much in such a "slight" project but why add the tour date? Also when did Wurzel gummidge (bottom right) join the quo?
Haven't Rossi
& Parfitt signed on the wrong sides? Japesters. Not that any of them look like Rossi.
Andy Bown & Rhino Edwards
They look like they've been added on at a later date. The other thing that worries me is that whoever their current drummer is does not feature. Might he be jealous?
RT says it well
"Oh she dressed in the dark and she whispered amen
She was pretty in pink like a young girl again
Twenty years married and she never thought twice
She sneaked out the door and walked into the night
And silver wings carried her over the sea
From the west coast of Ireland to West Tennessee
To be with her sweetheart, oh she left everything
From Galway to Graceland to be with the king
She was humming Suspicion, that's the song she liked best
She had Elvis I Love You tattooed on her breast
When they landed in Memphis, well her heart beat so fast
She'd dreamed for so long, now she'd see him at last
She was down by his graveside day after day
Come closing time they would pull her away
Ah to be with her sweetheart, oh she'd left everything
From Galway to Graceland to be with the king
Ah, they came in their thousands from the whole human race
To pay their respects at his last resting place
But blindly she knelt there and she told him her dreams
And she thought that he answered or that's how it seems
Then they dragged her away it was handcuffs this time
She said my good man are you out of your mind.
Don't you know that we're married? See, I'm wearing his ring.
From Galway to Graceland to be with the king.
I come From Galway to Graceland to be with the king."
Oh
nicely played!
Now that
...is a lyric
Cap doffed
Nice one Retro ,an RT mention in a thread about The Quo and Obsessive fans. mmmm
change Graceland
to Neverland and...
Well hey guys!
The person who designed the candles with pictures of 'ver Quo?

I Remember
a Bloke in Barnsley had the four members of Metallica tattooed on his back, all in their long haired glory and a week later all the members of Metallica had all cut their hair really short. The bloke said he was Gutted and wished the band would have notified the fans that they were going to do it.
Terry Pratchett was approached by a needlepoint business
who wanted to sell designs based upon his books. He wondered if that kind of merchandise might be overstepping the mark. Then they told him how much he would get in royalties each year.
Pratchett realised he was comfortable financially whilst he was in a video shop trying to choose between two titles. It dawned on him that he could buy them both. I like stories like that.
The thing I love about Terry Pratchett
Is that he sounds exactly like you think he would - a stream of fast-paced, slightly nasal trainspotteresque RP. He is, without question, a national treasure and the thought of Alzheimers gradually ruining one of the finest writing brains this country has is saddening indeed.
