Posted by bargepole on 17 December 2011 - 1:17pm.
bargepole has noted of late that many of the familiar posters, the 'old faces' if you will, seem to have disappeared from the blog.
where did they all go - if you're out there, then merry xmas - and come back soon !!

Secret Room
They are hanging out in the Word's on-line Secret Room - didn't you get the invite and secret password?
I think a good few...
...are to be found on Twitter rather than here, these days.
Really?
I've heard this before.
As someone who can't be arsed- sorry, bothered- with Twitter, am I missing a lot?
Are there different discussions there? Do posters assume different usernames? Is there a different ambience/tone?
What is the point/advantage of going to Twitter rather than just staying here?
*Not a trawl, not being deliberately contentious, just wondering. Apologies if this has been done to death elsewhere. If so, ignore*
They're for different things.
Twitter is more social, conversational, concise (by necessity), less fraught, less polemical and you have more of an element of choice about whose comments you see.
At 9000+ tweets, it's clear I like it a lot, but I like here a lot too. Some days/weeks I'm very Twitter; others, I'm very blog. Most of the time I'm a mix. They're for different things.
Thanks
That clarifies matters a bit. Still don't get the appeal of Twitter (I've seen my daughters' inputs, and they mystify me, which is probably as it should be), so I'll just stay here.
BTW- Trawl should probably have been troll, but what the...
They're only available
to Word subscribers.
I've been busy with Christmassy stuff
So I'm just catching up on about ten pages of 'Blog' now.
They've all cliqued off!
Down with Twitter and the Word Gang of Lots!
Not a regular poster...
...but my computer blew up! All mended now - for the time being!
If I qualify as an old face MIA..
..then it is indeed because I've been spending a bit more time on Twitter of late, but only since I got myself a smartphone, (which enables me to share stuff and converse on the go much easier). And, crucial this, my unsophisticated sense of humour works well with hash tag games, which I'm completely addicted to.
