Where can I buy old music mags?

Marlos Corner's picture

Hi - does anybody where I may be able to buy old music mags - I had all my NME's from mid-80's to mid-90's, and loads of Mojo's......but in preparation for kiddies a few years back......I got rid of them all.........silly boy!

I now only have my monthly Word to keep me company. I know I can get them on Ebay, but was hoping there might be somewhere else that sold a bit more in bulk and a bit cheaper?

Cheers!

You could try...

...Clive Whichelow at Backnumbers (googling those names will find you his website. i've only ever bought (relatively pricey) 60s/early 70s mags from him in a per-item way. He has a particularly useful database if you require material on a certain artist. But I believe he also does occasional bulk sale deals on the (much less collectable/saleable) more recent mags of the type you mention.

Thanks

Excellent, thanks for that. I've already had a quick look, and although I may not get the bulk I want, I have already noticed he has old copies of Jamming.....which I used to love but also binned....

I've got loads....

of NME'S from the '90s which I bundled up in the loft over christmas - if there's anything specific you're after give me a shout and I'll have a look.

Also found all my Selects which have been a joy to read - there's a lot of Select in The Word I'm still happy to see.

Well, I know you said not eBay

Well, I know you said not ebay, but I'm trying to sell the first 165 MOJOs on eBay and am happy to accept offers.... especially if we cut out the Paypal middle man.

There's another auction for the next 65...

I did get offered £70 for the first 100 but forgot to accept in time.

Music magazines don't get cheaper than this. Unfortunately for me.

My rafters are creaking

due to a complete set of Q from 1 to around 250-ish, every Select ever published, every Vox ever published, numerous tasty collectibles and countless Mojos, Uncuts and Words.

I'm keeping the complete runs, and the older stuff (Undercurrents, Zigzag, Let It Rock, Oz and so on) but if anyone wants to lug away the piles of old Uncut and Word mags, drop me a line and bring a van...

Old NMEs

I've got a box of old NMEs I found in loft when I moved house from 80s I'll try to dig them out. I have bought some Melody Makers from Clive Whichelow as mentioned above and also from Chris at rockofages.uk.com (co.uk?). Both are very helpful.

Backnumbers: 80s /90s clearance sale

I was talking to Clive at Backnumbers the other day. For space reasons he's having a clearout of 80s and 90s stuff (to concentrate his business on 50s,60s, 70s which presumably fetch more). Worth getting in touch if there's stuff you're after from that era.
