When pop stars do karaoke (to their own song)

stimpy's picture

I'm not altogether sure this hasn't been posted here before but all credit to Carol Decker for giving it some pub karaoke to her own song

Eddi Reader

Confessed on stage at Cropredy one year that she sometimes goes to the pub at the end of her road and does 'Perfect' on karaoke nights. And why not?

I remember that!

She said the regulars used to say to her "it was years ago hen. Get over it!"

Eddi performed a lovely set that day. She's a splendid live singer

Pity the 80s Pop Star

Some years ago she called into the shop where I worked to have some press photos taken on the shop's balcony (she was appearing at a local 80s revival festival).

Some of my staff went to the nearby Yates Wine Lodge for lunch and reported that she had come in to the bar and put China In Your Hand on the jukebox. She then started dancing, clapping her hands above her head, and encouraging everyone to start singing with her. When nobody did, and just stared blankly at her instead, she sat down and burst into tears.

I just cry when I hear T'Pau

just horrible, dreadful noise. The opposite of music.

Batman hit me with a vase and shouted: 'T'PAU!'

I said: 'Don't you mean KA-POW?'
He said: 'No - I've got china in my hand'

Not exactly karaoke, but

according to some of his conquests, Mick Hucknall's seduction technique included dimming the lights (fair play, wise move), putting on a Simply Red CD, and singing harmonies with himself.

Dimming the lights

Mick Hucknall? I'd advise that he turned them off.

Great clip

I clicked to watch it bigger on Youtube and as usual I scrolled down to the comments with a sense of dread. They never disappoint.

Jewel

This is a great example:

Jewel got 'made-over' (or is that 'under') as a mousy businesswoman and then did a karaoke of her own songs. Dropped jaws all round...

Sort of..

My mate Andy on honeymoon at The Firefly on Mustique (I've told this before, I'm sure..)is listening to the little blonde girl singing Can't Fight The Moonlight at the piano, who then goes back to sit at her table with her husband. "She's very good" Andy says to his new wife. New wife stares back at him. "That's because that's Leanne Rimes.."
