Waterboys - An Appointment with Mr. Yeats

"Ireland's greatest poet, W.B. Yeats, is transformed into one of the finest rock'n'roll lyricists on the stunning new album by The Waterboys"

I'm washing my hair, pass me my PS3 etc etc.

Any other similar off putting examples readers?

The Shandy principle

Shandy to me is the ruination of two very good drinks. I love Yeats, and like the Water boys (quite a lot actually). I'm just put off by the combination. Poetry is rarely good lyrics, just as lyrics are rarely good poetry.

I'm looking forward to it!

Having seen it live I am really looking forward to it! It's not the first time Mike Scott has released Yeats to music!

...but sometimes setting poetry to music just ...works

Waterboys - The Stolen Child
and

Christy Moore - Ballad of Wandering Aengus

Friends who attended the Waterboys project "An Appointment with Mr Yeats" in Glasgow said it was one of the most uplifting, moving "rock" shows they had seen.
