"What's wrong with being sexy?"

Snoop Dogg in London last night - wearing a QPR shirt for some unaccountable reason.

Hello....
....I see that the 'celebrity football fan syndrome' has kicked in early for the Premiership.
I must say I thought it would take more than ten days!
QPR always have had reams of dodgy or otherwise sleb fans
I've no idea why. As a lifelong fan I know its like a living breathing episode of Minder down there. And the players used to be as dodgy as the sleb fans. Off the top of my head, Pete Doherty, Joe Strummer, Bill Bailey (maybe unfair to call Bill Bailey 'dodgy')
Strummer
supported Chelsea, apparently. Seen Mick Jones at Rangers a few times. Not seen Michael Wale for many years though.
I bow to your superior knowledge
Maybe Joe was only claiming to support QPR in an interview so as to appear to be a man of the people :-)
Doherty had a fanzine called All Quiet On The Western Avenue
I used to watch the Rangers in the 70s on a fold down chair so as to see over the crowds on the terraces - so its nice that things have come full circle. Ecclestone will need one to see out of the directors box.
Michael Wale went non-league down at Yeading, I think
And he used to do reports in the Non League Paper.
Robert Elms, Mick Jones and Glen Matlock all sit together in the South Africa Road, which is as good a reason as any to go Ellerslie Road......well it wouldn't be the leg room.
Bill Bailey, of course.
Best of all though is the guy from the Bevis Frond.
The bass player
out of Dodgy supports Rangers (think it's the bass player, he's the one with a guitar but isn't the singer).
As does someone out of The Shadows, whose name escapes me but isn't whatshisface, he even wrote a couple of songs about the Hoops, Queens Park Rangers and Drive me down to QPR.
A famous-ish snooker player supports the R's and I can't remember his name either!
In an episode of Minder a character supported the SuperHoops and was given the shortest of shrifts.
Tim Healey was a R in Boys from the Bush a few years back.
Alaister Campbells son supports Rangers.
I met my wife to be at a QPR quiz evening.
That last line
Could be a Half Man Half Biscuit song title!
Mark Ellen
is a QPR fan - so I believe - he certainly referenced some crowd chants in an old podcast.
Was he under the impression that the Premiership works on a
franchise model like in the US where each city is limited to one club? Maybe he then asked someone to get him a 'London' soccer strip?
"Hey I've always been a fan of the London QPRs"
The Cure
When The Cure toured their Wild Mood Swings album in the US, Robert Smith wore a different hockey shirt every night, depending on the city the band were playing in. Though I'm not sure what he did when he got to cities with two teams (like New York).
Radiohead...
should hire some ladies like that for their next tour. It could be their "new direction".
She might get "wet"
for Snoop but can she "wet the bed" like the ladies do for Chris Brown?
Coming soon: Usher performs "Geyser(You're Gonna Blow)"
I have found it a mixed blessing to be honest
You know, I give, give, give but sometimes I just have to rest
sorry...may have misundertood the topic
but are you implying the wearing a replica football shirt is somehow sexy? A grown man wearing a replica football shirt. Please don't tell me you wear one Mr Hepworth or I may have to cancel my subscription. Nothing against QPR of course (Warnock notwithstanding) but...well, really.
Warnock was always known as...
Colin Wanker round these parts. But now, he's *our* Colin Wanker. Top bloke, a lot better than I gave him credit for etc. etc.
As for the Snoop QPR attire. Makes perfect sense coolest footy gear in the Premier league :-)
I do apologise David,
but I have no idea at all what the point of your post is.
The video clip you have included holds absolutely no appeal for me, it piques no interest at all and fails to engender even mild curiosity. The only response it elicits in me is one of sympathy for those who might find it in any way entertaining or educational. The reason for the quotation marks around your chosen title have me stumped.
While I fully accept that there will be posts on here that leave me cold, or leave me aghast, this one leaves me puzzled. Would you, or anyone else for that matter, be kind enough to explain what I'm missing?
?
What's the problem? It's just funny that he's wearing a QPR strip, isn't it?
er, no.
Why should I construe that to be funny? More to the point why the feck should I be expected to attach any significance to an obscure football club shirt?
Ob
bloodyscure???
I'll have you know that is one of the most well known football shirts in the country. And it ain't Reading's.
ggggrrrrr.
xxx
I assumed
via the Spinal Tap reference that Mr. H was casting a withering eye at the subject matter of Snoop's "song" whilst adding an aside regarding his bizarre choice of attire.
Innit.
Exactly
what's not to get?
It's a typically taste-free performance by a rap artist. Hence the sexy/sexist Spinal Tap reference.
The QPR shirt only adds to the comedy value.
Nam sayin?
Perhaps it's the fact that Spinal Tap references
just pass me by. An averagely funny film I've never seen fit to study to the point of obsession.
Care to name any films
that are "fit" enough "to study to the point of obsession"?
Weekend at Bernie's perhaps?
Nah.
Caddyshack maybe.
So...
just because it holds no appeal to you, means that it shouldn't have been posted? And why should anyone bother to explain it to you? Its not David's fault that you don't get it.
There's loads of stuff on here that really doesn't interest me but I don't bother to ask the posters to explain why they posted their posts as I assume that they will be of interest to others.
Calm down dear.
I was curious because it might as well have been written in Martian for all it meant to me, yet having been posted by DH I guessed there might be a cultural blindspot at work on my part.
So what's the problem? I don't normally bother to ask the posters to explain why they posted their posts, but in your case I'll make an exception.
Is it just me
or are the spotlights flashing directly into the camera enough to make you stop watching that clip? I started watching it with the sound muted so have no idea what it sounded like. I can probably guess though.
Maybe he's being
Hoop Dog?
Maybe Peter Doherty
gave it him? Or Stan Bowles come to that?
Reference to...
...the Shrewsbury kit worn by Harry Shearer in Spinal Tap, perhaps?
I was going to mention that!
As a Shrewsbury Town fan, it always gives me a thrill that Harry Shearer inexplicably wears a Town shirt.
Yes
I had a quick look on the Famous Football Supporters Page and the only famous Shrewsbury fans were Chris Hawkins (who?), the late Pete Postlethwaite and your man Smalls.
I remember Harry Shearer saying he chanced across the shirt on a London market and just thought it fitted with the character.
WTF Was That All About
All That was Missing was a Pole maybe that was Snoops job
Quizzle Pizzle Rizzle
Fo' sho.
Apparently Dr Dre supports Liverpool. He saw us on his hotel telly whilst on tour with NWA in the late 80s, when we were good, and it went from there.
Downhill
then...
;)
Yes
We stopped winning titles soon after. But since then, the Bitches Ain't Shit hitmaker will have enjoyed the following:
Champions League winners (2005)
Uefa Cup Winners (2001)
FA Cup Winners (1992, 2001, 2006)
League Cup Winners (1995, 2001, 2003)
Which is not bad for a fallow period.
Snoogy Doogy
I've heard 'Tha' 'Dogg' wore a Liverpool shirt at his gig here at the O2 Academy last night.
He did indeed
Great stuff!
Ain't nuthin but a Stevie G thang
Not forgetting...
The Super Cup in 2001 and 2005. As you say, fallow.
Football Shirt tart
is Mr Dogg. Apparently he asked Birmingham City FC for one of their shirts for his gig at the Institute earlier this week. Maybe revenues from this tour are down and he is going to flog them all at a market stall after the tour!!!
Mr Dogg is an avid collector...
of sports memorabilia.
True dat.
(Really)
