Entertainment For Lively Minds
What's on the upcoming CD?
The next issue of Word will be with you next week. Attached to the cover is the usual "Now Hear This" CD featuring Chris Difford with "Come On Down", Flogging Molly with "Paddy's Lament", Devotchka and "The Clockwise Witness", Was (Not Was) and "Your Luck Won't Last", Thomas Denver Jonsson and "You Were The Holiday", The Black Keys and "All You Ever Wanted", The Grid and "Closer", Jesse Malin and "Stray", Steve Pilgrim and "Lover, Love Her" and Eleanor McEvoy and "Shame On The Moon". Which just leaves:
Jaymay playing "You Are The Only One I Love" outside the Albert Hall;
The strangely fascinating Amy LaVere...
... and "Killing Him" plus Stephen Emmer doing "Passengers"...
....with Lou Reed on recitation.
Take out a sub

or the kitten gets it.

Jaymay has a certain gamine charm,
but (and there had to be a but) I am overwhelmingly UNimpressed by the song. Does that really warrant a coveted place on the CD?
uh-huh
Saw her live, supporting Teddy Thompson. It was probably the worst 30 minutes of my music-experiencing life. This comes from someone who has seen Boyzone. Don't get the appeal, but it would be boring if we were all the same, wouldn't it?
you *are* kidding!?
that is a bloody fantastic song.
Tell you what
Listen round it.
Ok then
it's a deal.
Amazing feat
That girl on the cover looks like she just crapped a ghetto blaster.
Lou Reed
Tell me it doesn't have Lou Reed talking on it. Can I have a refund?
Walk The Wordosaur
Pleased to see Was (Not Was) have returned, excellent stuff and one of the best live acts around, hope they tour again soon.
