What should I get from e-Music?

OK, I've got 4 tracks remaining out of this month's e-Music sub... Spend 'em for me; give me your pick of the pops!

Four gems for you...

Outrageous Cherry - "Pretty Girls Go Insane" from Our Love Will Change The World

The Len Price 3 - "Rentacrowd" from Rentacrowd

The Soundtrack of Our Lives - "Sister Surround" from Little Steven's Underground Garage Coolest Songs In The World Vol.2

Brian Jonestown Massacre - "When Jokers Attack" from And This Is Our Music

Afrobeat or radio plays

Get some Fela Kuti or Tony Allen, all their tracks are about 15 minutes longs so for four credits you can get tonnes of awesome music.

Got it covered ...

Teddy Thompson - 'The Future' (from Leonard Cohen tribute CD)

Stevie Wonder - 'Light My Fire'

Marlena Shaw - 'California Soul'

Thelma Houston - 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'

Ummmm...

I can't find any of them on eMusic.

Niks | 1 September 2008 - 1:05pm

assuming you've still got a credit or two, Niks

there's a Neil Finn version of 'There is a Light that never goes out' up there. It's himself, a few lads out of Radiohead and some manc Guitarist called Maher or Marr lending a hand.

here it is on youtube

I likes it!

Laura & Adam

I very much like the 2003 LP by Laura Veirs Troubled by The Fire. It's more laid back and country than her more recent stuff. Also a self-titled LP by someone called Adam Arcuragi. No, me neither. I can't even remember what prompted me to download it but it's good. My account replenishes tomorrow so I'm always happy to get suggestions as well.

This is nice.....

Not ground-breaking stuff, but she's a lot better than most of the female singer-songwriters I can think of out there. Lovely voice.

Thanks everyone...

I've gone for:

Outrageous Cherry - Pretty Girls Go Insane
Antje Duvekot - Dublin Boys
Orson Wells - Bram Stoker's Dracula
Fela Kuti - Go Show

I suspect the last is the one that may give be the least easy to get into, being the furthest from my usual tastes - but therefore possibly the most rewarding.

I've saved the first two for later knowing I definitely fancy some more there, so thanks for those recommendations.

May have to do this again next month - a good way of getting past one's own natural inclinations to find some new stuff!
