What Do You Want This Yuletide?
Posted by David Wright on 27 November 2009 - 7:58am.
Next Thursday, I'll be hitting Princess Street in Edinburgh, to try and start and finish my Christmas shopping in one day. I'll hopefully squeeze in a pint or two in the old town, before heading home and writing up my notes on Marillion's gig in Glasgow from the Wednesday night.

I'm a man of simple pleasures; all I've asked for this Christmas is the second installment of Michael Palin's diaries and perhaps a new jumper. A box of coffee creams perhaps too, I think the slow cooker will have to wait until another year as will digital radios for every room, new tape player and a Fender Precision Bass.
What have you asked for this Christmas and ideally, what would like?

Family Britain
I've made only one request this year and that is for a copy of David Kynastons new book -'Family Britain, 1951 -1957'. Having spent most of 2009 working my way through his fantastic 'Austerity Britain, 1945 - 1951' I cant wait to get stuck in to the next installment!
I'm twenty-three
and I've asked for a dressing-gown.
I'm living life on the edge.
Stimpy gloats
I don't want anything... I've just (as in 30 minutes ago) taken delivery of this.
It's a 1979 Roland System 100m studio synth. I've been after one for decades - ever since I first saw one in Jezz Woodroffe's music store in Birmingham when it had just been released.
I'm just bringing it up to room temperature prior to switching it on :-)
That looks suspiciously like this
(and I don't mean the adverts at the beginning)
Are you going to get a hat to match?
Not quite the same
That's a Minimoog; and it's monophonic so I don't understand why he's pretending to play chords on it :-)
Do you have
an interesting anecdote about a pencil case mix-up to wow the ladies with, by any chance?
You're only jealous of all my toys :-)
Coffee creams
I've never heard of anyone liking them before. They go the way of the nasty orange ones in our house.
We recently got a 'Crockpot' slow cooker for about £30 and it's been well worth the money. Couldn't you justify it by the money you'll save buying cheap cuts of meat? I'd recommend blade steak (less then £3 a lb in our butchers) for an excellent steak and mushroom casserole. Obviously it may depend on how easy it is for you to get to our butchers...
Cream
They're my favourites but quite hard to come by these days. I always treat myself to them at Christmas.
I also
adore coffee creams :-)
me too
so much so I was going to ask where one might buy such things.
I've asked for...
'Nashville Skyline', and 'Catch A Fire', both on vinyl. I would love a new car, and this.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180433603311
I'm torn
between the Wii sports, a new ipod an i-phone or just to be left alone
a proper old fashioned xmas
with some religious significance and without everyone feeling they have to spend a fortune on presents and keep the shops going!
bah humbug!
if you go to princes street...
... you have *nae chunce* of doing your yuleshop in a day ... it's all ripped up for the trams ...

The Beatles mono box set
furry slippers, some Heritage aftershave and an end to all wars
World peace
Not really.
I'd love a really brilliant set of ipod speakers, but so far Mrs F-C isn't biting. No surprise at £799.
