What to do about Clarence

niallb's picture

Bruce has decided what to do about the huge Clarence shaped hole to his right, during this year's mammoth tour.
Count 'em. There will be 7 extra musicians augmenting the E Street Band. These include some of the brass section from the fantastic Seeger Sessions Band, a couple of back-up singers that have toured with Bruce before and 2 sax players - the wonderful Ed Manion (stalwart of the seeger Sessions Band) and Jake Clemons (no relation).
They are playing at The Grammys this Sunday. Can't wait for Manchester.

No relation?

I assume you mean that Jake Clemons is no relation to Ed Manion because he's most certainly Clarence Clemons' nephew.

It's an interesting, perhaps inevitable, move. My first Springsteen show was in '88 when he toured with the Miami Horns. I remember it fondly although it did get a little bit Vegas-y at times. Still, the horns on the Sessions tour were magnificent so perhaps this will be something in that vein.

Sunday night at the Grammys should be interesting anyway.

Sorry, John

You are, of course, correct. Just my silly sense of humour. A mate would say 'no relation' when talking about his brother, so much so that it became 'our joke' and we said it all the time. He lurks here, hence my 'wheeze'. Ed Manion will be great at looking after Jake and, if the horns on the Seeger Sessions tour are anything to go by, we're in for a rare treat.

Jake...

I gather he's being referred to as 'Little Big Man' in some circles. Which is quite sweet.

How big is the E-Street band now? 16 people? Those band introductions will take a while to get through. I demand that Bruce gives every single member a nickname.
