and i totally forgot this Bowie gem until I saw that Tarantino WW2 mess

what song \artist have made you sit up n take notice in front of the TV\ cinema screen?

Yeah

although after just looking it up it might derive from Old Norse "skvala" meaning 'to squeal'

I remember describing the 25 minute long 'No Hidden Path' at one of Neil Young's concerts a couple of years ago being 'a squall' when I should have written 'arse gravy'

Joy Division - Heart & Soul

This was admittedly on a BBC documentary about Factory, but what took me by surprise was:

- for a moment I couldn't place the song, as it fitted the particular footage (of 70s Manchester) so well without being a cliche, and

- how atmospheric it was: of course, listening to JD you appreciate what it sounds like, but being taken out of context seemed to give it an extra edge.
