What are we Shazam-ing?
Posted by DrJ on 1 March 2010 - 9:55am.
Hopefully most of us know about Shazam: The mobile phone app or number you dial (old school) which identifies any piece if music being played at the device. I have a long list on my phone of stuff I've Shazammed. Recnt additions include:
Bruises by Chairlift
John Barleycorn by Traffic
You are here by Nathan Fake
Not Even Stevie Nicks by Calexico

My last five
Sukiyaki - Kyu Sakamoto
Counting On Love - Peter Jacques Band
Death And The Lady - Ian King
Somewhere In My Heart - Aztec Camera (I knew it, honest, but was demonstrating Shazam to someone)
Funnel Of Love - Wanda Jackson
the Nouvelle Vague
punk album in a posh bistro type place.
MESH
This pop-rock tune was playing in a shoe shop. Great tune, located thanks to Shazam
I love it - even paid for the version where you get the really big fat button in the middle of the iphone screen.
My last one
was 'The Cave' by Mumford and Sons, which probably shows me up as pretty out of touch.
However, about 3 months ago in a clothes shop, I heard a great song which I've never heard mention of before or since - "The Good Old Days" by The Lodger. It sounds like Franz Ferdinand if they were still good.
