Do you like the name "The Word Massive"?
I always cringe a wee bit, the term "The Massive" has a bit of a whiff of Ali-G about it (that ship sailed yonks ago).
I can't think of a better term though. The best I could come up with was "The Word Readers" and that's pathetically shit!
That surely is the point
There is no perceived cachet or cool in the use of the term Massive. Consequently its usage here is extremely appropriate.
That's the way I see it, anyway

Sorry Carl, I'm totally rainman, do you see it as:
a) "The Massive" is ironic because it's a term used ages ago by gansta rapper types. It's now so uncool that to use it is saying "we definitely don't mind being uncool, infact we will mark ourselves as such"

However I wouldn't be so ill-mannered as to use B but I'm not particularrly taken with A as you've defined it.
Anyway I can't speak for everyone, because I'm merely an atom in the molecule that is the Massive. As I said that's the way I see the usage.
On the other hand as I think David Hepworth was the man who coined the term WOrd Massive, perhaps he's the better source to interrogate.
