Weird Book/Magazine Titles

David Wright's picture

When I was young, I used to think I was a bit of an oddball, subscribing to Railway Modeller for many years. This does however seem tame compared to the world of strange magazine and book titles which are out there. Here's just one, welcome to the world of the strange. Picture evidence most welcome. Best entries will receive a gold star and a free copy of "Ferrets Are Us".

A classic

NSFW but it's the remarkable "A Hand In The Bush", a title that tells you all you need to know about the content...

At one glorious time, page views counted towards the chart on Amazon so this became an instant chart-topper, as documented in The Grauniad - http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/2000/feb/18/1

Diagram Prize

The Bookseller/Diagram Prize is a rich source of wonderful titles.

Personal favourites from this list are 'Greek Rural Postmen and their Cancellation Numbers' and 'How to Avoid Huge Ships'. The utter uselesslessness of these titles would compel me to have a flick through in the unlikely event that I spotted hem when out shopping for the latest misery memoirs.
Fans of 'Bombproof Your Horse' will take a measure of delight in it's 2004 triumph.

Piercing Monthly

I got mysteriously & anonymously subscribed to this magazine back in the early 90's.

It got delivered to me at work much to the amusement of my colleagues.

I received three of them and then it sadly stopped. Must have been a Word like introductory offer.

Made my eyes water looking through it.
