Weird Album Covers....(or even albums)

Six Dog's picture

I know this has probably been done in the past (and excuse the faux pas if recently) but I came across this today...

Photobucket

It begged the questions...

How? Why? Who bought this? What the hell does it sound like??? Did the Colonel really trouble a recording studio??

It's utterly bonkers yet completely fantastic at the same time. Is this a 1950's early take on product placement or something free you got with a Happy Meal? Did it come with a clean up tissue? Why is the little boy about to kneel on a big Let it Bleed type cake?

Any other fast food vanity albums knocking around? Did Ronald McDonald ever team up with Mayor McCheese to knock out a hip hop covers album?

More of a curio

If you bought a new VW Campervan in the late 70s/early 80s, you received a special LP, containing specially commissioned music to celebrate its anniversary. (Below is the Dutch version.)

My record-collecting friend is after a copy of this if you've seen one. Some of the tracks are on YouTube – it's full of weird and wonderful Krautrock-style instrumentals.

Used to be standard advertising tool

Quite why Connie Francis was seen as a perfect shill for Brylcreem is beyond me, but these kind of token-collect gifts were pretty common in the 50's & 60's, I can only assume "The Colonel" thought he'd give it a try too, the Tijuana theme suggests the mid-60's...

The stuff of nightmares

There are adults still in therapy after seeing that as kids in the 80's.

Scary

Not fast food related but...

There are loads of great covers on the
LPCoverLover
website.
I think I originally found that site via a link from this site didn't I? Well worth a look.
