Somebody I knew of but never took any interest in until I heard him on Loose Ends tonight.
What a guy!
It's not available yet but should pop up here soon - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0128fqq

FFS!
Billy Two Rivers. Wrestler from my youth.
Look what you did James. You made me check up on the progress of Andy's autobiography and it is out next week. I've been slightly dreading it's release for various reasons and this review confirms it may not receive universal praise in certain polite musical circles, least of all the BBC Later With Jools Holland show. I imagine this will not go unnoticed by the burghers of The Word bunker.

Of course...
...he's fascinating, he's from Morecambe.
'the bat' and the northern soul 'vertical clap'
The Bat: pumping of both arms over head in the manner practised by Souisxie Sioux circa 'Spellbound'. Employed mainly by girls whenever anything vaguely gothick was played at the student disco. Also occasionally ventured by blokes to demonstrate appreciation of Spear of Destiny or Killing Joke.
The vertical clap: the easy bit of northen soul dancing for those who couldn't master the fancy footwork. Left arm is held outstretched, palm upwards. Right arm is swung in a straight-armed bowler's arc over the shoulder, bringing the right hand vertically down upon the left with a smack. This could only be done in unison by a large group at certain agreed points in certain songs. e.g. "And I get the... (clap! clap!)... sweetest feeling".
damn. I posted that in the wrong thread.
sorry
I did wonder
