Was (Not Was)

Looking forward to catching Was (Not Was) on Jools Holland tonight, must be well over twelve years since I last saw them live (supporting Dire Straits!). Here's one of their classics, with Sinatra on guest vocals.Very underrated band. Any other fans out there?

Sinatra?

Sinatra Jr! I always liked Was (Not Was)... great band.

Me, very much so.

They are responsible for two of the most enjoyable gigs I've been to - Leeds University in about 1987 (more people onstage than in crowd) and The Forum, London, in about 1994 (better attended). I've no idea how they made a 12-piece touring soul revue financially viable on the sale of no records and fewer tickets, but I suppose having two major record producers running the show helps.

Was Good On Jools

Yes indeed, they are a fantastic live band, full of characters and an American group which seem to have a bit of irony about them, which is quite rare. Guess they've been saving up for fifteen years to be able to finance a tour again. The bass player who was on Jools Holland with them last night,is also a mean trombone player. Hope they do some UK dates; anytime, anyplace,I'll be there. Hope they bring back their trumpet player who used to pretend his trumpet was a gun as he fired notes into the often confused crowds. Here's another good tune with that trumpet player and some hilarious lyrics!

Sorry to go on

but I saw them in March at SXSW and they are bloody awesome live.I remember seeing them in London over 10 years ago and they are as good if not better now. Truly an inspirational live band.
