Was this made just for The Massive?...

Jimmy Webb's "The Highwayman" ("Greatest song ever written" Mark Ellen) performed with Paddy MacAloon.
It may not be the greatest song ever written, but by christ it's up there.

Well,
(today) I think this is the greatest song ever written (except for one or two others)
And Scott Thurston is the greatest sideman never to have released a solo album
Good call
Some of my favourite lyrics of all time:
"You're the colour of the sky
Reflected in each storefront window pane
You're the whispering and the sighing
Of my tyres in the rain
You're the hidden cost and the thing that's lost
In everything I do
Yeah and I'll never stop looking for you
In the sunlight and the shadows
And the faces on the avenue"
Ooh, hang on
I've just remembered . . . this (today) is the greatest song ever written (except for one or two others)
Geez
Never seen film of this before. Fab. How unbelievable was Peter Green?
Unbelievable
How did he think he'd get away with that "Jason King" look?
Song's fantastic though. Almost goes without saying
Webb again
Members of the Massive may be getting tired of my championing of Mr Webb but all the same I will rattle on again.
Highwayman is indeed one of his best songs but not this version unless you are a McAlloon fan. For a different take on it (literally and metaphorically) try the one from Cottonwood Farm by Jimmy Webb and the Webb Brothers, my (current) favourite.
Well a great song is a great song, surely?
I wouldn't hold this up as definitive...
That would be Glen Campbell.
Yes Shirley, a great song
I now realise where the inspiration for this song came from. Still good though.
Mark Knopfler & James Taylor - Sailing to Philadelphia
My current favourite
Stevie Wonder "Ribbon In The Sky"
