Was it something I said?
Am I the only person in the history of the massive to get NO replies to my recent question (reproduced below)? That's No replies - I counted them twice. I have low enough self esteem at the best of times but really....
Do I get a badge or something for this great 'honour'?
Yours in paranoia,
T
That first question in full:
Being of a certain age, I recently started to think fondly of my teenage saturday afternoons listening to Alan 'Fluff' Freeman's Saturday Rock Show on Wonderful Radio One. I remember hearing loads of great stuff for the first time here, Todd Rundgren's 'A Wizard, A true Star' in it's entirety, Bowies's 'Young Americans' and all sorts of prog stuff good, bad and indifferent. Does anyone know if any of these shows exist in any form on the interweb? I remember that the trailers John Peel would do for his next weeks worth of 'Top Gear' programmes that co-starred his producer John Walters were paricularly hilarious and straight after Fluff's show (and those jingles! - not 'arf!) there would be 'In Concert' which I would record and then it was downstairs for Dr Who. simpler times.
I've looked on the great Radio Rewind site but does anyone know if these shows have been preserved anywhere at all?
Yours through rose tinted granny glasses. Tony C

To answer your first question
No, you're by no means the first. In fact, at the time of writing, Mr Hepworth has a thread on the front page with no replies. It happens to the best of us, don't take it personally.
To answer your second question, I've no idea, but hopefully getting a reply under your belt will bring some sunshine into your life!
Thanks for that
Thanks Joe. I feel better already!
regards,
T
Zilch
I got a nada once. Think of it as a badge of honour: we came up with something so dull that even the geeky Massive could find no interest in it. That takes some doing.
Thanks
Outgeeked the geeks eh? Makes ya feel kinda proud don't it!
Regards,
T
Null return?
I think it's because you framed your posting simply as a question, "does anybody know if... exists on the interweb?". Basically, everybody for whom the answer was "no, I don't know of any" decided, sanely, that an answer in the negative wouldn't help you in your quest, so no point in saying so. If they had, you'd be wading through reams of "Nope!" responses, which would be pointless and of no use to you.
Sadly, then, I guess the reason you've had no responses is simply that nobody here knows of any such repository of Fluff Saturday Shows. Nobody was snubbing you. Try asking a more open-ended question, and you'll see.
And, indeed, neither do I. I'm afraid you're just out of luck!
Indeed
I just left a 'Nope, sorry' reply on acurtis' original post, so he'll hopefully feel a little less less isolated.
Too kind
Thanks Fraser, any chance of a sarney as it's my lunch hour?
Thanks again,
T
Thanks!
Thanks for the reply Paul! Just bookmarked your AbDuMp 6 site for later perusal as it looks interesting and seems like we might be a similar proggy persuasion? Like the cat as well - I have 2 almost identical.
Cheers,
T
Yikes!
I really must post something new on the AbDuMp 6 site, T - I think the most recent entry was nearly 3 years ago! Still, I was wittering on about fairly old music anyway, so it's no more outdated than it was at the time!
It is no shame: wear it as a badge of pride!
As one of the more obsessively completist and anal bloggers on site (well, it saves you all saying it), your sad story prompted me to investigate my own excreta. In my just over 12/12 of activity, I have put up 37 new posts, which surprises and embarrasses me in equal proportion, being nearly once a week, if allowing for holidays. I too have had a zilch return, when on 11/3/08 I put up a cry for the Levellers. My maximum return, 28/1/08, was to ask for a peoples worst singers choices, catching 72 replies. I have stuck to music as football and the Wire do little for me, but, discounting randomisers and the live coverage of the brits and eurovision, why is it bloody squirrels that pack in the biggest punch?
I know!
The little furry bastards.. grrrrrr!
T
I would simply have said no too.......
.......but -
a bit of digging and I've found some. Actually I found 4. One from 1973, one from 1975, the penultimate show and the final show on 26 Aug 1978.
Do you torrent?
Yes - www.thebox.bz
No - You need to learn how, but if you don't want to, I'll get 'em for you.
Thanks
Dear Big Stevie,
You sir, are a prince amongst men. Thanks for all your digging. I do torrent but I can't register on the Box site as it's invite only from now on. If you are a member maybe you could invite me aboard?
My email is 735songs@gmail.com if you can. If you can't then that's no problem but thanks anyway for the reply.
Cheers,
Tony
Twice!
I got a big fat nowt to two of my footling thoughts.
One mentioned Dick Gaughan, the other Eliza Carthy. Though all they happened to be were notices that they were on the telly that night.
I cried not. Much, anyway.
Was actually rather taken aback that I only 2 received replies to a blog entry of mine which mentioned the words 'The' and 'Wire' in conjunction. I thought the world had ended that day.
I'm not
replying
Neither
am I
I'm not digging out the old post
So I will post here instead. Somewhere, in a shoebox, in a shed, in the garden, is a cassette tape where I know I have one of the Peel/Walters trailers from a Fluff show. Not the show though. In the trailer he mentions the group Emerson, Lake & Parker. That's all I kept it for. Silly.
If it helps it is with my BBC In Concert recording of Todd Rungren. Can't find that either.
I hear ya
I too used to have loads of the same on some old C90's that may possibly be in my folks attic somewhere but just as easily be landfill by now. Not the end of the world but it would be nice to hear them again.
All the best,
T
It's a bummer
But one box is just full of recordings from the Kenny Everett show on Radio 2 in the 1980's. Not full shows but edited highlights. Good job I wasn't working at the BBC otherwise I would have been wiping loads of good stuff...
Don't Worry
It gets easier, had a few nil replies myself, keep taking the medicine. One day you'll be able to forget and move on.
Not Arf
he was brilliant, shame you listen to those again!
Unintelligble life on planet rock
I have a few nil points, then again too few to mention. I think in one case it may have been me rambling on too long making too may points at once. There are certain humiliations and misunderstandings to be had but I keep coming back for more and now my nom de plume has appeared in magazine for saying nothing of any great consequence. Fame at last. Persistence pays off. You too may one day reach those giddy heights if you really apply yourself.
