Vuvuzela or vuvuzela?
Posted by stimpy on 14 June 2010 - 3:20pm.
Does any have a definitive pronounciation for vuvuzela?
Voovoo-Zella or Voo-Voozla seem to be the favourites.
Any Zulu speakers amongst us?

All I Know
is that it's African for 'Fucking Annoying'
this has been bugging me all day
I'm gonna go with voo-voozla
My favourite vuvuzela story
Fact: the guy who first mass produced the vuvuzela runs a parallel business selling novelty earplugs.
Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sorry, I have no idea.
Vuvuzela
Gives me the horn.
I thought it was
Vulva - 70,000 people blowing Vulva is a mind boggling thought!!
If I'm not mistaken
and I'm sure the Stimpmeister will be quick to correct me if I am, but didn't the Aspidistra hatstand use it on track two, side two of their second ellpee?
I'm real sorry but I forget the album's name (I only heard it once back in 71 in a girl's flat, I never saw her again) and I'm also lost as to why the 'h' in hatstand was lower case, I know it has something to do with butter making and a tone generator and... nope, that's where I lose it.
too many years of abuse I'm afraid
are they known to afficionados
simply as "the Hatstand", or perhaps the Aspidistras ? We need to know ...
perhaps I'm a bit too familiar
me and me mates usually refer to them as thee Ah!s, we did have a phase where they were ver'stand but settled on Ah!
punk rock, innit?
Pure Jonathan Coe
Have an arrow---but whether it's The (pre-) or Ver (post-76) Stand, I assume we can agree that Aspidistra Hatstand was the self-titled difficult second album ?
My only comment wou;ld be that
the 'H' of Hatstand should be in upper-case, not sure how it got lower-case in the tag cloud.
Danny Baker
calls them Uwe Seelers. Perfect.
