The unsinkable Fats Domino

Happy birthday to Fats Domino, 80 today.
Had a career before rock and roll came along.
Sold five million copies of "Blueberry Hill".
Survived Hurricane Katrina.
Supplied Ritchie Cunningham with his catchphrase!

Yes

One of the pioneers. Last Man Standing, are you, Jerry Lee? I will celebrate by listening to one of my Fats favourites, I'm Gonna Be A Wheel Someday.

Another early start, I see, David.

Wassat?

Is that a You Tube thing?

The clip I posted?

Yep. Ignore the Carole King caption. No video to speak of, just my favourite Fats Domino song. Is that what you meant?

A good excuse...

...to get out his recent dble tribute CD, Goin' Home. A bit of a curates egg, but still some excelelnt performances. A timely reminder for those who think he only ever wrote Blueberry Hill, as the songwriting credits show. Hope he never signed away his royalties!
