Entertainment For Lively Minds
Unofficial Mingle - Liverpool - Ye Cracke - July 22nd
Posted by Grant on 12 July 2011 - 5:42pm.
Obviously BIG THINGS are happening in this sceptr'd Isle.
What better time to gather for an informal (no CDs necessary) chat, a putting of the world to rights, and, of course a pint?
Please drag yourself along if inclined.
Let us know below if you're coming, so we don't move on without you!
http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/ye-cracke-liverpool
Convening time is 7pm. We finish when we finish.
Looking forward to seeing you. It's been too long.

Ye Cracke, bedad !
A fine establishment. First in nabs The War Office.
No CDs as such, but I did scoop up what was left at the last London assembly, which I will bring along, unless I forget. And if y'all have any spares from the last NW bash, which I missed, I would, of course, be gibberingly grateful.
Soon !
What a great photo on Google Thingy
Bloody great lorry parked in front of the pub, obscuring the view. Hope I recognise it without the yellow pantechnicon.
Altogether now,,, we all live in a yellow pantechnicon, A yellow pantechnicon. A yellow pantechnicon.
I will do my best to remember to my CD. If the others had to suffer so should you.
You can only sing that
if the mighty Vorgongod is in attendance.
to the NW Massive I bequeath the right..
Will raise a glass to y'all from London Town's Museum Tavern. Looks like you've got a top bunch of people in attendance. Will look out for updates here and in, ahem, the other place, y'know the one, the one that tawt it thaw a puddy cat.
'Fraid I'll be up in Scotland that weekend
but have a great time - that pub sounds great.
Love
MMM x
You will be missed.
Enjoy romping through the heather-see you in September. X
Should be okay for me
look forward to seeing ya there, chums
Booooo!
Alas, a prior engagement keeps me away, as son no. 2 dons mortar board and gown in Huddersfield. Will be thinking of you chaps. Mwah!
Good luck to You Sir.
have a good evening.
Hoping to get there
Travelling down that afternoon. Cant leave any earlier, & have a couple of things to do when I land at Birkenhead.
Still, I am hoping to get over before 2100.
I will contact you beforehand Grant & sort out arrangements.
Really looking forward to it.
Great news.
Looking forward to seeing you again. Thanks for making the effort.
If it's a good night
We'll go out the back so Beany's pooches can have a sit.
If not I'll try and bagsy the big tables to the right hand side of the bar.
Word of warning to amateurs: Stay away from the Wobbly Bob.
Juke box not as good as it once was, but still superior to others.
Good call..
I know Bisto's got a free pass that day, as hopefully, shall I , so we'll try to grab a good table.
A member of the nomad fringe comments.
A combination of transport difficulties and finding respite care for The Aged P make attendance unlikely. A shame as the GLW and I could use a night out amongst our favourite folk. Next year maybe. Have fun and play nicely.
Hopefully keep September free?
Will see you at some stage.
I'll try...
... and make it along if I can. Must be able to make it to one of these things one day!
Ditto
Apols
I'd forgotten that I have a colleague's leaving do that night at the other end of the East Lancs Road.
Hope you have a blast.
Try to come
I went to my one & only mingle a few months ago, wonderful night. I hope you can make this one. I look forward to meeting you.
I'm in..
..hopefully arriving at Lime St in a train full of drunken Scousers en route home from a day out in Blackpool again - the essential preamble to any great night out. See you there....
Oh for an evening at the Ye Cracke, dear NW Massive
Could you buy one of those awful Swedish lagers and put on the table so I can be present in spirit?
Are you on twitter?
We'll take a picture of one for you to show that you're there.
Yes
This is he: http://twitter.com/Ola_Claesson
Done!
Am now following thee.
Redux.
After some quite unmanly pleading I've managed to get my sister to agree to watch over The Aged P so the GLW and I will be getting down with you groovy hep cats after all. Should arrive around 6:30. Oi! I can hear the booing from here! Bloody cliquey sods!
Oh no!
I'm washing my hair that night 8-}
You'll both get my bestest Beanyhugs and bloody lump it. Great news.
Can we agree not to discuss Walt Disney World though. I'm off there in September 8-P
I´m happy for you, Sir Pencilsqueezer Of The Round Table
It balances my own frustration of not really being able to make it.
Says,
Ola Claesson, Member Of The None Existing Groucho Clique
Great news.
See you both then.
How many does that make now?
Hoorah - Pencilsqueezers ahoy!
Marvellous news
I should be there....
I'll bring my Arpeggio testing kit, my Jo Whiley sings the Hits of Jimmy Webb CD, and maybe I'll bake a Self Appointed Quiche that we can all tuck into.
Self Appointed Quiche
Self Appointed Quiche - Funny as fuck !
I will follow the star
and bring gold, frankanwalters and meh
One down sadly
I shall be leaving Maiha at home. That's the likkle doggie. Weather not looking good for outdoor mingling and someone would have to hold her lead while I went in the shops we seem to be frequenting in the afternoon.
Are we shopping?
Okay then..let's storm HMV and sneer at their pricing.
Yeah lets.
(on the way to the Disney Store)
P.S. Disney also sells Marvel products now.
You always know
how to get to me.
We'll have to arrange a rendezvous time and location.
Anyone fancy a copy of Electric Eden by Rob Young
or Last Shop Standing by Graham Jones? Let me know and I'll bring 'em along.
I'll bagsy the Electric Eden
if you don't mind? Ta,muchly.
Read and enjoyed the Graham Jones book. Food for thought.
If the offer is still open Peter
I would like the Graham Jones book.
Many thanks.
Roger Wilco.
The above mentioned papery objects will be accompanying me t'pool. Huzzah!
For any early starters..
Myself and the good Bisto are arranging to meet at Lime Street at about 1pm. To where we shall then venture has not been decided at this moment.
If anyone else is free, that's where we'll be.
Looking good for 1pm
Anyone fancy a trip to Etsu? #3 restaurant in Liverpool according to Tripadvisor.
http://www.etsu-restaurant.co.uk/
Menu looks good
and I don't mind being adventurous.
What time?
Looks yummy!
Lunch-ish?
Tweet us (or something) and let us know if you're free or where you are.
i can be there at 1.30 ish
is that too late?
I'm running late
Forgot to charge the old iPhone. I can head to the area near Etsu and park around there. It is handy for Liverpool One. Setting off from Notlob soon.
Ooh me too!
I'll be there. Sorry for the late response! Looking forward to seeing everyone
Best wishes to all
I'm sure that you will have a hilarious time, and that the positive energy generated by the shared joy and daftness could power a small town for a month.
Someday I'll be in the area when one of these is going on!
Unfortunately
something has cropped uo & I am unable to attend.
hope you all have a great night & hopefully I will catch up soon.
Les (JTB)
Thanks to Everyone...
Gathering at Ye Cracke, we did what we do best. We talked, we drank, we laughed, I ordered the wrong drinks etc.
Thanks to everyone that came along. Another great night. I'll say no more at this point..
Beany, Mart and Bisto at Etsu.
Mrs P.Squeezer and Cutler-Phile, Mr G.Hogg
Mart, Doods, Dr V and Southstand
Noob! Richie! (God I hope I've got that right)
Mr Bisto about to deck me for a) Getting his drink order wrong and b) buggering of early like a big girl. Apologies, B!
Paddy and Pencilsqueezer.
£1.95 All Day, Everyday.
Bargain! And what a lot you get for your money!
Looked like a fab night
Hope to join you again sometime in the future...
Hugs all round xxx
Admit it...
...you had a shite time without me there.
Didn't you? Didn't you?
Oh.
We were
laughing to hold back the tears, Paul. Drinking to forget and all that.
Pictures of "Ye Crack" but not of Uranus.
Pencilsqueezer was slightly more sober than Grant
Judging by the sharpness. Southstand really is the Massive´s own Howard Hughes, isn´t he? Leaving his vacuum chamber only once a year.
Yes, he was
plus my camera skills are not that great.
But you managed to catch some people I hadn´t seen before
And maybe, I hope, will meet one day.
Hope you all had a lovely evening at Ye Cracke, it certainly looks like it. These photos give me Liverpool abstinence.
Are all present Liverpudlians or are there any "guests"? Apart from the mighty Mr and Ms Pencilsqueezer and Doods.
No we come from far and wide
from all over the North West..Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Cheshire, North Wales, Lancashire...I suppose our 'catchment area' is about the same size as that covered by the London Massive but the location switches between Liverpool/Manchester/Chester.
Brilliant time last night
Many thanks for the craic and laughs. £2 a pint Cains Pilsner left me feeling very delicate and highly unproductive all day today. Wouldn't have missed it for the world - already looking forward to Sep meet.
Any suggestions for CD themes? Vin went for instrumental music, I'm offering music linked to the seasons/ weather (September sees us moving out of summer into autumn).
Hello
I will use my debut post on the Word forum to say how much I enjoyed meeting up with everyone the other night. It was great to meet a like-minded bunch of music fans.
I look forward to the next official mingle and contributing a playlist/CD for your enjoyment.
PS Great photos btw
@paulclark72
Sorry Paul
Misnamed you in the photo.
In my (admittedly poor) defence it was very loud in the pub and to quote Rowley Birkin QC "I was vereh, vereh drunk".
Next one will be Manchester, hopefully an Outlet nr Picadilly Station, where we held one back in April, in early September.
Looking forward to seeing you then.
I will be slightly more coherent.
Richie!
Ha ha I didn't notice that. Richie's not a bad name, I could assume that as a pseudonym for future mingles.
I think I was probably in a similar state given my attempt at silent singing as highlighted in one of the photos.
