Unexpectedly Good Cover Versions

Recently I had the good (mis)fortune to take my teenage daughter to see her favourite bands, Fall Out Boy & Panic! At The Disco at Hammersmith Apollo. Having resigned myself to a few hours listening to overwrought Americans whining about whatever it is they whine about imagine my surprise when PATD 'dropped' a surprisingly good cover version of "The Weight" by The Band. The rest of it was god awful but that made my night.

Don Ho did a cover of Peter

Don Ho did a cover of Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey" which wasn't as bad as you might expect.

Just this weekend I was

Just this weekend I was listening to Luna's 'Lunafied' on which they bend 'Sweet Child O Mine' into a beautiful country rock lament. The CD's full of great covers ('Season Of The Witch', 'On;y Women Bleed', 'Bonnie & Clyde) but that's one of the best.
