Umbrella ... KGB ... the irony of it.
Posted by Phil Pirrip on 23 January 2009 - 3:31pm.
I know this isn't music related and I apologise if this is a bit London centric but I've just returned from buying a pack of butties from a major supermarket chain. Just inside the door were a couple of gents flogging copies of the London Evening Standard, and with it, a free umbrella.
Now given that the Standard has just been bought buy an ex-member of the KGB, is this a piece of inspired marketing, a monumental PR cock-up or is the name of Georgi Markov about to resurrect itself?
I was reluctant to ask if the said umbrellas came with extra features like cyanide coated ball bearings? Come to think of it, an item of that ilk could be quite useful some mornings. Only joking!

I'm just looking forward
to the Standard's unbiased reporting the next time a future Russian MP radioactively poisons someone in Picadilly before going to see Arsenal play at home.
