Ukulele heaven
Uklear war has been declared, thanks to the new official best website in the world. It takes the songs from your last.fm profile and gives you the tabs to play them on the uke. God Is In The House by Nick Cave has just been bouncing round our house. The kids have fled.

Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain
(Is that their name?) Seem to pop up at loads of festivals. Caught them on saturday morning kids programmes recently. Actually quite good, but my step dter found the one with long hair a little alarming.
UOGB
Have a look at their "You Don't Bring Me Flowers' video on YouTube ...
There's worse out there...
I have to admit, I have a selection of songs I keep in my head. Each time a band does a cover version, I mentally run through my list to see how well they would cope with those. One of them is 'Ace Of Spades'; another is Fleetwood Mac's 'Albatross'.
Trust me, it's afforded me much amusement in many a dull moment...
Is the Word now ready.......
........for "Those Darn Accordions": quite the best version of Black Dog, segued, I think, with Rock'n'Roll, I have ever heard. Interesting Baba O'Riley also. The clue is in the title of the band, should there be any lingering doubt. Probably one for completists. (Strangely, when I originally found and downloaded, from Napster, after it had become a pay site, half my songs from TDA were from someone completely different, cover art and all. I e-mailed and told them, but no response or money back forthcoming, so, should you me tempted to search out my commendation, be careful.
There is also quite a good Polka band, well, sporadically actually, out there, who cover Chic and similar, but whose name escapes me. Suppose, what with Hayseed Dixie and the whole Pickin' On phenomenon, let alone Paul Anka and his loungecore versions, any song is ripe for re-interpretation. Some work. Most don't.
Any good examples gratefully received, BTW.
