Two Drummers Word Podcast

Now I like a Collins/Thompson drum solo but its not for everyone. So sorry Mr Hepworth, I can tell you enjoyed yourself and I respect that, but a 44 min podcast about drumming and drummers is surely a Backstage Word Special Podcast?

I feel like I have'nt had my weekly dose of "the sound of young Islington",giggles, banter et al :-(

Please dont give me detention for talking back!

I loved it

Best pod for a while, even, for my money.

(What? Oh, it's free. Yes.)

I didnt say I didnt love it....

but suggest it shoud belong to those fab Backstage Pods that are also available.....I just misst the usual set up...something I look forward to immeasurably....

Apparently. . .

Mr. Seventies was still working on his HORA and didn't feel he was quite ready.

Archie Valparaiso | 16 July 2008 - 7:18pm

I agree with Archie

Best for a while - variety is the spice of life. And the Dodgy drummer was proper witty.

Lee Rimmer | 16 July 2008 - 8:31pm

I repeat

what I said earlier....I didnt say I didnt like it..nothing wrong with Macca going solo.....but theres nowt like the Beatles....if you get my drift..

Commoner | 16 July 2008 - 8:38pm

Are you...

...by any chance, a bass player?

Philip Bryer | 17 July 2008 - 6:12am

Erm, no

probably a little too vocal for the average bass player. Good question though for if i was a muscician what position would I play? Erm not the engine room, not the singer, or lead guitar....probably the keyboardist...yeah, i would like to be a Danny Federici..

Commoner | 17 July 2008 - 6:26am

As a bass player

(albeit one who aspires to one day attaining the skills of Jamie Stewart from the Cult), I thought the podcast was excellent and very interesting.

However, I've not encountered this bassist/ drummer antipathy before. It's always been the rhythm section against the world in my experience.

Matthew Priest is also in my good books for being behind a couple of CDs for kids called 'My Silver Balloon' 1 and 2. You know the kind of thing; you can get your child's name inserted into the songs (well, as long as your name isn't Moon Unit anyway). Unusually for kids' CDs they're quite listenable (the first thousand times, at least), and you can have a certain amount of fun with how much 'Dougie the Dancing Dog' sounds like Neil Young.

Ok it appears....

I am the only one who was not happy to sacrifice their weekly "comfort blanket" for a Pod Special...and again, I didnt say I didnt like it...

Commoner | 17 July 2008 - 8:32am

Really?

But we all thought it was quite good. Why did you hate it so much..?

(etc)

Fraser M | 17 July 2008 - 8:53am

You

are such a tease! 'You would'nt let it lie'

Commoner | 17 July 2008 - 8:58am

I thought

It was a good workmanlike 'cast. Not exceptional but perfectly fine and I enjoyed it tremendously. No laugh out loud on the tube moments, but entertaining nonetheless. And I wholly approve of a different format occasionally.

BTW - I like Mark's proposal of Giles Smith guesting, and may I also suggest Charles Shaar Murray might have a few good tales to tell - nice to see the great man in the mag this month. Always one of my favorite writers though you don't see him so much these days.

Not exceptional but

Not exceptional but perfectly fine

Is that what you say to the GLW when you're going home for friends?
