Tribute band names
Posted by stimpy on 4 July 2010 - 1:15pm.
Last night, I was discussing the line up of the forthcoming Monmouth festival (http://www.monmouthfestival.co.uk/index.htm) and there's a Welsh Latin/Cuban combo playing called Buena Risca* Social Clwb.
No reason for sharing this other than it made me snigger into my pint and I thought ver Massive would get the joke.
*Risca is a small town in South Wales

Rather fond of name of tribute band from Liverpool
Crowded Scouse.
Pretty good too.
and on a similar theme
Crooked House
and the Scottish version...
Crowded Hoose
Whilst in Scotland on holiday
I saw a poster for an annual festival somewhere near Loch Ness which featured mainly Scottish bands and looked excellent, unfortunately, it was on after I came home. Runrig were headliners and the Black Isle Brewery had made a special beer for the ocassion. Anyway, one of the band listed was The Red Hot Chili Pipers which I thought was superb.
Another one, not on the bill, that I fondly remember was Dread Zepellin, who did mainly Zep songs ina reggae style with an Elvis soundalike as lead singer.
More Scots
Irn Maiden (like the Bru) and Gallus Cooper.
My favorite tribute band name is...
... By Jovi.
As mentioned on another thread recently, I think Brian Maiden would be an excellent tribute band name.
By Jovi would be a good name for a Ken Dodd tribute act
'By Jovi missus, what a wonderful day for...'
The poodle hair look
is already appropriate - perfect
Boney Mitchell...
play Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin, Brown Girl in the Ring etc using complex open guitar tunings and intersperse the songs with lengthy diatribes against the sickening leeches in music business.
They don't exist but they should.
There's a...
...band called Oasish.
My band...
Dexys Bootleg Runners. I thank you.
Bjorn Again
Obvious, but brilliant
There is the AC/DC one called
AB/CD. It looks great on the posters.
I was always really impressed with the name of a smiths cover band who were touring a few years ago......The Jones'
Not sure if it's original

From a Mr Roy George. Made me chuckle, anyway.
I'd also like to see a The The tribute band from Yorkshire called T' T'.
