Too long gone: Gene Clark
Posted by Richie B on 24 May 2011 - 1:17pm.
In other news, today sees the twentieth anniversary of the death of Gene Clark. A man who for all his flaws, produced some great, great music. So, put down your Dylan-ology for five minutes, Massive, and give this a listen: Silver Raven

I agree!
Here's a cracking version of I'll Probably Feel A Whole Lot Better with the classic Byrds line up
And Tom Pettys version
Also brilliant made him and killed him. Quite sad really.
The unsung genius of The Byrds
Prior to his departure Gene wrote most of the great Byrds songs from within the band (as opposed to covers).
Even Crosby (not a man noted for his generosity of spirit) acknowledged Gene's greatness, saying something like he and McGuinn would turn up at rehearsals with half completed songs while Gene would turn up with a couple of new ones, way better than what he and McGuinn had worked up.
Love this one
And I'm sure Noel Gallagher does too.
Beautiful version of Silver Raven
I've never seen that before. Cheers. My own favourite is Some Misunderstanding. I can't find it on You Tube though.
And I think it's a fair bet
Richard Ashcroft has heard Some Misunderstanding.
Gene could only make guesses
At some of his past addresses
but he could certainly write a choon
Love the man
and love No Other like no other.
And I think his name is the coolest name in rock.
His later stuff
can be wonderful too
Wonderful three
Synchronicity
These days I rarely use the random play function on my MP3 player, instead preferring to listen to albums the whole way through. However the selection is made via Album Of The Day, which the player selects randomly for me. Tonight, on my why home, it came up with No Other.
Beautiful.
Caught By The River...
