Tom Ravenscroft on 6Music

Lying Doggo's picture

Having lost his excellent podcast a year or two ago now, Tom Ravenscroft has finally been given space on 6 music. (Last man aboard a sinking ship.)
Not only that, but they've put him on Friday night at 9 o'clock, when I'm often struggling to find anything non-shouty to listen to.

I'm just iPlaying the first show now and it's as good as I expected. (No sign of Hermeet yet, though.)

Very Good

listened to it on friday and he was top notch

shame if 6music goes under, as nighttimes & sundays are great-marc reilly, gideon coe etc but daytimes are dreadful, full of 'dj's' who like the sound of their own voice

Haven't had chance

to check out Tom R yet, but the vibes seem good. Gideon Coe: one of the Beeb's little lost diamonds - used to love him following Jupitus' breakfast show. And still top now, love listening to him.

Tom

Great show on Friday night from Peel jr. I have noticed though that the more he's on the radio the more he's starting to sound like his old man.

I was struck by the same thing

last night as I listened to him standing in for Tom Robinson. At times he sounded eerily like his dad, with that same faintly Scouse-ish undertow benath the laid back, sardonic drone.

All that said, I rather liked him on his own terms, not for how much like his old man he sounded. Good move by 6music if they can stay alive.
